Träbert's currents are effective in patients mainly suffering from degenerative changes in joints, back pain and muscle pain, neuralgia, peripheral circulation disorders, including limb ischemic syndromes, as well as post-traumatic conditions of the musculoskeletal system. They are especially recommended when we want to have quick painkilling effect.
Träbert's currentsis an electrotherapeutic treatment, otherwise known as a stimulus massage. The principle of the Träbert currents is as follows: the flow is in one direction, the pulses are rectangular with a duration of 2 milliseconds, followed by a 5-millisecond pause. The frequency of the current is 143 Hz.
How do Träbert's currents affect the patient's body?
Träbert's currents affect the structures of the nervous system, improving blood supply and tissue nourishment. At the same time, it is the frequency of the current that causes the muscles to vibrate, thereby reducing their tension and relaxing them. The duration of the procedure is selected individually for the person undergoing rehabilitation and may be approx. 8-15 minutes. The current is also individually adjusted depending on how the patient feels. It is characteristic that with time, with subsequent treatments, the tolerance to the effect of the current increases, therefore its intensity should be increased. Sensitive, of course, as too much of it only causes the muscles to contract, instead of causing them to tremble.
Träbert's currents are very effective, patients sometimes feel better after the first treatment. However, it is recommended to take the entire series, i.e. usually 6-8 treatments that are performed daily.
Träbert currents: important electrode arrangement
Several electrode positions are used for the patient undergoing treatment with Träbert currents. It is placed either transversely (in the case of diseases related to the limbs) or centrally on the spine, in segments. They can be placed in four places: at the neck, in the upper thoracic spine, thoracolumbar or lumbosacral. The treatments use flat electrodes with an area of 70-80 cm2 , and to increase their surface area, large pads are used.
Träbert currents: indications
The use of Träbert currents gives the best results in the case of:
- back pain syndromes
- osteoarthritis
- states of nerve root irritation in the course of osteoarthritis of the spine
- neuralgia
- muscle pains, states with increased muscle tension
- post-traumatic conditions of the musculoskeletal system, sprains, contusions, painful stiffness of joints after injuries
- peripheral circulatory disorders
- inflammation of the periarticular tissue of the shoulder
Träbert currents: contraindications
As with most treatments with the use of currents, the contraindication to the use of Träbert currents are:
- acute inflammation
- high temperature / fever
- cancer
- pregnancy
- sensory disturbance
- implanted pacemaker or other metal elements (e.g. endoprostheses, if electricity were to flow through this place)
- diabetes
- infectious diseases
- any inflammatory skin lesions (e.g. abscesses) that occur at the electrode site
