The problem started a month ago. I fell asleep at home, woke up and started choking, unable to swallow. I was overwhelmed by fear, and for a week I had trouble swallowing anything. Now all the time while eating I think about the whole swallowing process, I can feel every muscle, every movement of my esophagus, I can't swallow without drinking it, sometimes I'm afraid of swallowing only saliva. What to do? How do I stop thinking about it? Is it neurosis, depression, panic, anxiety? Take tranquillizers for a while?
The most precise answer can be given by a specialist in a direct conversation. However, I doubt whether you will be satisfied, because it is difficult to be precise here. You have an anxiety disorder that can cross over with many others. However, in this case, I think it is a simple fear that for a moment appeared with the trouble of swallowing saliva after waking up, and then only multiplied, ignited by the Lord's fearful images. If it does not expire by itself, it is worth meeting with one of these specialists, maybe some medications will be needed for a short time. Regards!
