The fact that music can relax, add harmony to our lives and reduce stress has been known for a long time. After all, even in Greek mythology Cerberus, the three-headed dog and guardian of Hades, fell asleep only to the sounds of Orpheus' lyre. Research shows that properly selected relaxation music slows down the heart rate, lowers blood pressure and lowers the level of cortisol, also known as the stress hormone. Relaxing music also improves digestion as well as the level of concentration - that's why some people are eager to learn or read while listening to quiet music.

Researchers from Drexel University analyzed the influence of music on the condition of cancer patients. According to an experiment conducted at the University of Utah on a group of patients with Alzheimer's disease, music also influences better cooperation of different areas of the brain.
