Acai berries, which look like blueberries and taste like blueberries or chocolate, contain almost all types of antioxidants that delay the aging process and inhibit the development of cancer cells (including: resveratrol, cyanidin-3-glucoside, acid ferulowy). They also contain a large amount of polyphenols (e.g. ellagic acid), which also have an antioxidant effect. Therefore, acai berries are on the ORAC list (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) - a list of food products with a high content of plant antioxidants. The effectiveness of the antioxidants contained in them was estimated by specialists at approximately 161,400 μmol per ounce (approximately 29 grams). This is much more than in red grapes (approx. 1800 μmol in one ounce), which are considered to be the fruit with the highest antioxidant potential.

Acai berries support the work of the heart

Acai fruits are rich in fatty acids such as oleic acid (from the group of omega-9 unsaturated fatty acids) and linoleic acid (from the group of omega-6 EFAs). These compounds help to lower the level of "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and raise the concentration of "good" (HDL) in the body, therefore they are helpful in the prevention of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. The absorption of "bad" fats is also inhibited by the fiber contained in acai fruits.

Acai berries for weight loss

They give a long-lasting feeling of satiety, and thus help to control and gradually reduce the amount of calories consumed.
