Throughout my pregnancy, your hair was thick and shiny. Now, after the baby is born, whole strands are left on the brush. The bathtub becomes clogged after washing the head. Don't panic, it will pass. Hormones are to blame and every mother has to deal with the same problem after giving birth. How to deal with your hair until everything stabilizes?

Every young mother has this problem -hormonesare to blame, namely the change in their concentration. During pregnancy, high levels of estrogen stimulate the work of the hair follicles and inhibithair , which is why there are more of them. About the third month after birth, estrogen levels drop, so your hair begins to fall out rapidly. You lose the ones that didn't fall out during pregnancy and those that shouldn't fall out right now, according to the natural cycle of hair growth. This is why you have the feeling that more are going out of the way than ever before. The good news is that everything will be back to normal around six to nine monthsafter giving birth , because that's when the hormone storm subsides. A little later, if you are breastfeeding, because then there is a fairly high concentration of prolactin in your body - a hormone whose excess also causes hair loss. Note: The secretion of prolactin also increases stress, which is why the hair of women who are bottle-feeding but suffering from postpartum depression will also thin out. So if you are pestering yourself with the question, "Will I not be bald?", We answer: usually there is nothing to worry about. You have an average of 150,000 hairs on your head. You can lose up to 30,000 without any harm to your appearance, and this is how much every young mother loses on average.

How to care for your hair if you are breastfeeding:

  • Eat well. A diet should be rich in vitamins, micro and macro elements. Eat meat, poultry, fish, eggs and seafood because they contain zinc, iron and copper. For hair problems, we recommend coarse-grained groats, wholemeal bread and pasta, paddy rice - these products contain a lot of vitamin B1, valuable for hair.
  • Change the way you care. Forget about the usual shampoo, now the special one, from the strengthening line, will be better. Massage your hair and scalp with it for two or three minutes for the ingredients to take effect. After rinsing your hair, apply a strengthening conditioner. If the hair is not detangled well, additionally massage in a smoothing balm. And the last step - a nourishing mask.It is enough to use it twice a week. Massage a portion of the size of a hazelnut into wet strands, wrap your head with a warm towel (you can heat it up with a dryer, for example) and lie down with such a compress for fifteen minutes.
  • Rub the strengthening ampoules into the scalp. They contain ingredients that regenerate and nourish the bulbs. Rub the contents of the ampoule every 2-3 days (instructions can be found on the leaflet). The treatment lasts up to three months, you should notice the first effects after a month of use.
  • Try Grandma's methods .Castor oil mask or strengthening compress made of black radish juice - it's worth using them once a week. Heat the castor oil and rub it into the scalp. Rinse off after two hours and wash your head with shampoo. Black radish compress is more complicated. Grate a few radishes and squeeze through cheesecloth. You can use a juicer, but it will be difficult to clean afterwards. Rub the juice into the scalp and then wrap it with a towel. Keep two hours, preferably overnight. Herbs will also help you, such as horsetail gargle, which contains silica to prevent the ends from breaking.

How to take care of your hair if you are not breastfeeding:

  • Go for mesotherapy. It is an aid in drastic cases, when hair is falling out quickly. The treatment is performed by a dermatologist. With a special gun, it injects substances that stimulate the regeneration of hair bulbs and follicles into the scalp. The procedure is almost painless, as the needle only reaches the subcutaneous fat, but on request, the doctor can anesthetize the skin with Emla ointment. A series of treatments inhibits hair loss. Price of one: 250-300 PLN.
  • Take the strengthening pills. They contain complexes of vitamins, micro and macro elements. The dosage depends on the preparation: usually 1-2 tablets a day. Note, do not buy them if you are taking supplements for new mothers, as then you may experience an overdose of vitamins.
