I have a problem with involuntary limb movements, shooting and twisting my fingers and feet. It is a common activity that I am not able to master. I feel unpleasant pain and tingling in my fingers that forces me to do these activities. I searched for information on the internet, but found nothing. I would like to know if it is some kind of disease of the body or if it is a psychological problem. And is there any possibility of treating or alleviating symptoms, because it is very burdensome on a daily basis and painful injuries can occur, and I would like to add that I am a young person and I am afraid that in the future I will not have fully functional limbs, and I am not in becomes unlearned.

You are sending a very brief description of your ailments. However, it can be concluded that you describe a disorder called athetosis. It is a neurological disorder and its causes should be determined by a neurologist. A general rule in psychology is that recognizing the causes of the so-called psychogenic disorders of a disorder must be preceded by the exclusion of medical or organic causes.

Involuntary movements in the form of athetosis - that is what you describe - may have various neurological causes - eg cerebral hypoxia in the perinatal phase, cerebral palsy; may be the result of a previous stroke or other neurological conditions. So, I suggest having a neurological consultation. The ailment is really unpleasant, so it is worth acting quickly. Regardless of this - but not instead of a neurological consultation - it is worth consulting a psychologist with a neuropsychological speci alty, because there are psychological tests that allow you to examine the existence of microdamages in the central nervous system, i.e. the brain. You are writing at a special moment - I wish you all the best in the New Year, especially good he alth and a short waiting period for a neurologist's consultation!
