Classic orthodontic appliances with metal or aesthetic brackets

Such braces stick to the outer surfaces of all teeth. They are made of locks (cubes made of metal, porcelain, crystal or composite), rings or tubes and arches (metal or coated with Teflon, silicone). Metal braces (titanium or metal alloys with or without nickel) are the most visible, while ceramic and crystal braces are close to the natural shade of the teeth or are transparent. Follow-up visits are necessary every 4-6 weeks. Price: metal camera - approx. PLN 3,000 PLN (upper and lower jaw), crystal braces - approx. 6 thousand. PLN (both dental arches), plus the cost of follow-up visits (PLN 100-300).

Lingual orthodontic appliances

They resemble classic braces, but with a major exception - the brackets are glued to the inside of the teeth, so they are completely invisible from the outside. However, not everyone can assume a standard language apparatus. Particular contraindications are periodontal diseases, low teeth (insufficient height of the crown part of the tooth for sticking the bracket), narrow arches, poor hygiene. The period of getting used to the lingual apparatus usually takes a little longer than in the case of classic appliances - it causes temporary problems with pronunciation (sometimes the help of a speech therapist is required), hygiene is also difficult.advanced computer techniques (the lock is programmed for a specific patient, taking into account the shape of the teeth). Price: 8-14 thousand (both arches) plus the cost of follow-up visits.

Invisalign devices

These are transparent aligners that tightly cover the teeth and are replaced every 2 weeks. They work well in the case of small defects. They are comfortable, the forces exerted on the teeth are strictly planned. The covers are removed during meals and when brushing your teeth, making it easier to maintain oral hygiene than in the case of fixed appliances. The disadvantage of the removable apparatus, however, is the extension of the treatment time, which is often caused by inconsistency in wearing it, and the discoloration of the overlays. The full cost of treatment (apparatus and follow-up visits) is 10-19 thousand. PLN.

Self-ligating braces

These are modern braces which, thanks to the unique structure of brackets, allow the use of much lower (but the same throughout the treatment period) force for straightening teeth than in classic braces. This reduces the discomfort associated with orthodontic treatment, as well as shortens its time and extends the intervals between subsequent follow-up visits (held every 8-12 weeks). Self-ligating appliances additionally help to maintain proper oral hygiene, because they do not have elastic elements (which is why they are suitable for people with periodontal diseases). In many disadvantages, they can be treated without removing the teeth. They are the only ones that can also widen the smile, which is related to the so-called orthodontic facelift - the position of the teeth changes the position of soft tissues, so the teeth support the cheeks and lips more. In short - it looks younger!

The self-ligating appliances include the Damon system and the Insignia self-ligating appliance. The latter has all the advantages of the Damon system, but with the added benefit of customizing the brackets, which are designed to fit the teeth of a particular patient.

Price: approx. 5-6 thousand (upper and lower arch) plus cost of follow-up visits.
