My seven-year-old son very often touches his intimate places, plays with his penis. I admonish him not to do this. Recently, in the morning, when he was still lying in bed, I saw that he had tied his legs at his ankles with a bathrobe belt, between his legs he had a teddy bear with which he always sleeps and he was rubbing his penis with it. I was scared, angry at my son, and at the same time didn't know what to do!

Children of this age and younger sometimes discover the pleasure of masturbating in a random way, through inflammation, allergies, worms, overheating of the genital area, etc. Itching causes them to rub and eventually orgasm. Then the child, especially the neurotic ones, often treats masturbation as a way to relieve tension and stress. This behavior is absolutely not sexual, a child at this age has no sexual needs yet. It is absolutely forbidden for the child to pay attention, punish him, etc. It is best not to notice this type of behavior at all. Then they have a chance to pass in adolescence. Stigmatization and punishment will exacerbate the phenomenon. And this is not out of spite to my mother. First, the child realizes that he becomes the parent's object of interest (which he lacks on a daily basis), and the stress becomes even greater and he masturbates to relieve it. Please do not react, do not pay attention to it. The problem is if the child does not do it in intimate places (bathroom, own room - he is allowed there). If he does it in public, it should be explained to him that it is human intimate behavior, such as urinating or faeces, and other people do not have to witness it, because it offends their aesthetic feelings.
