Face concealeris a cosmetic that covers shadows under the eyes, broken capillaries, redness, discoloration and pimples. The trick, however, is to choose a cosmetic with the appropriate formula - light and low coverage under the eyes or a more creamy and covering for the face. Choosing the right color is also important. In addition to the corrector matched to the color of the foundation, there are also color correctors that are designed to neutralize the color of redness and bruises.

The concealer can be used to correct minor errors in make-up, emphasize the line of eyebrows and lips, even out eyeliner and correct imprecise bronzer.

Face corrector: which one should you choose?

Nude is a universal shade, perfect for e.g. deeper lines and wrinkles; pink will brighten up tired, gray skin; green "extinguishes" red, so it will hide broken blood vessels; yellow will mask the dark circles under the eyes. If you have oily and blemish-prone skin, your ally will be an antibacterial concealer, enriched with e.g. salicylic acid or tea tree oil.

The method of applying the concealer depends mainly on its consistency. It can be assumed that a stick or crayon concealer will blend better into the skin if you apply it before the foundation, but it is not a rule. It is important that the concealer you use under the foundation should be a shade lighter than it, then the fluid will even out the color nicely.

Types of proofreaders

Depending on what imperfections we want to cover up, we should choose either a concealer with a light or a covering formula. High-coverage concealers do not have a light formula and will always be visible on the skin. Light cosmetics provide less coverage, but can be applied to the delicate skin around the eyes.

  • Corrector instickis opaque and highly pigmented. It is used to cover scars and discoloration, so it should be used pointwise. Do not use it under the eyes, unless it has a creamy texture and does not stick to wrinkles.
  • Cream concealerhas high coverage, moisturizing substances and is not as thick as a stick concealer. It can also be used under the eyes. Use as little product as possible as the concealer may stick to your skin.

  • Concealer with applicatorhas a light and fluid consistency, dries on the skin and gently covers. It can be used under the eyes, but does not cover up skin imperfections. It can be applied to the foundation in places requiring illumination.
  • Brightening Concealerusually has a liquid, creamy consistency and comes in a container with a brush. Contains light-reflecting pigments. Do not use it on blemishes, but it is great for brightening the shadows under the eyes.
  • Antibacterial Concealercontains a blend of substances that dry and shrink blemishes while providing coverage. It should not be used under the eyes.

Concealer shade

The easiest way to match the corrector is to the color of the foundation. Color a shade lighter will provide coverage and brighten selected parts of the face. However, it should be remembered that the lighter parts of the face attract the eye, so the color lighter than the color of the foundation should not be covered with blemishes.

The choice of a color corrector has to do with an opposing color scheme. According to it, red skin lesions are neutralized with a green corrector, blue bruises with orange, and purple with yellow. Similarly, if the changes on the face have a greenish tinge, we can use a cosmetic in a warm shade of red.

  • Green and olivethe color of the concealer is intended for people with broken capillaries and erythema. Green color applied directly to reddened areaswill reduce their visibility.
  • Yellowthe corrector should differ only by one tone from the color of the foundation. It is used to mask purple shadows and dark circles under the eyes. According to some make-up artists, it can successfully replace the green concealer and be used on capillaries, redness and fresh scars.
  • Peach or salmonthe concealer reduces the blue and purple tones appearing in the shadows under the eyes. It is recommended for people with fair complexion and strong bruising.
  • RedThe color of the concealer is designed to reduce shadows under the eyes in people with dark complexion or severe discoloration.

Face concealer: how to apply?

Before applying the concealer, apply a moisturizing cream and foundation. Changes that require additional masking with concealer will be visible after applying the first layer of makeup. Apply the corrector on the tip of your ring or middle finger and pat it into problem areas. The concealer can also be applied with a delicate brush, which you use to spread the product over the face, making circular movements. Remember that the less product the better. Finally, fix the whole thing with loose powder.
