During pregnancy you had no problem with hair loss - the hair was sticky. Two or three months after giving birth, they fall out in handfuls. Where does this problem come from and how to care for your hair after childbirth so that it stops falling out?

Postpartum baldness is a problem for every young mother. Sooner or laterhair lossit will affect you too. To what extent, this is impossible to predict. Perhaps you will lose little more hair than you lose each day. Perhaps, however, there will be much more of them on the brush than usual.

Hair loss after childbirth - it's only nature

In both cases there is nothing to worry about. Dermatologists have long discovered that postpartum hair loss is a natural phenomenon. To understand them, however, you need to know thathairhas its own life cycle, which consists of three phases.
The first is the growth phase (aka anagen) which lasts from 2 to 6-8 years. 90 percent are in this phase.
Phase two is catagen, a transitional period lasting about two weeks. During this time, the hair stops growing and prepares to fall out (its end breaks away from the nipple, which is in the hair follicle, and moves closer to the surface of the skin).
The third phase, telogen, is the resting time of the hair follicle. It lasts from 2 to 4 months - during this time it contracts and rests. The follicle then grows larger as new hair begins to form in it. It pushes the old one that falls out. Duringpregnancythe process is slightly different. Increased estrogen levels prevent the hair follicles from going into the catagen phase. Hair does not fall out, so there is more of it. This is why you might get the feeling that your pregnant hair is more lush than ever before. Two or three months after giving birth, estrogen levels drop, which is why the hair begins to fall out rapidly. Among them are those that did not fall out during the 9 months of pregnancy and those that would fall out right now - that's why you feel that you are dropping them at an express pace.

According to an expertspecialist in dermatology, Piotr Szlęzak

Unfavorable processes in the body of both men and women can cause the collagen sheath around the hair root to become fibrotic. The oppressed root is less nourished and less attached to the scalp. Manufactured bythe hair becomes thinner and thinner, it falls out, and after some time it ceases to grow back. The baldness process begins. To prevent this, you need to act in two ways: fix the hair root in the scalp and stimulate its reconstruction by providing nutrients.

Vitamins and hair care after childbirth

Don't be afraid of getting bald - without any loss of beauty, you can lose 20 to 30 percent. hair. We have 100-150 thousand of them on our heads. and even if you lose a third of them, the difference will not be noticeable. The problem will disappear on its own, about 6 to 9 months after giving birth, because then the hormonal storm begins to subside and the hormone levels return to normal. It may take longer if you are breastfeeding because your body has a higher concentration of prolactin, a hormone that too much causes hair loss. The period of postpartum alopecia is also longer in women with postpartum depression, as stress increases the production of prolactin even in young mothers who do not breastfeed. Nevertheless, it is worth strengthening the hair - in order to improve its condition and well-being. After pregnancy, they can be weakened, with split ends, not because of hormones, but because of a lack of vitamins that the body has used for other purposes. A he althy diet, rich in micro- and macroelements, and B vitamins is of great importance for the appearance of the hair. They favorably affect the functioning of the skin through which the hair is nourished. Niacin is of particular importance in this group, as it dilates blood vessels - thanks to this, the necessary nutrients can reach the hair roots. Fish, eggs and seafood containing zinc, copper, iron are valuable, as well as wholemeal bread and pasta, coarse grain porridge, paddy rice - rich in B vitamins. Hair will also be helped by cosmetics. for weakened and falling out hair. It is worth investing in the entire line: shampoo, balm and conditioner, and apply them in the right way. While washing your head, massage your hair with the shampoo for two or three minutes so that the nutrients in the shampoo have time to penetrate the hair shaft and take effect. After washing, apply the conditioner. Ampoules that strengthen the hair and nourish the bulbs are an effective treatment that requires patience. Full treatment takes three months. Moms who are not breastfeeding will be helped by specialized vitamin and mineral preparations that improve the condition of hair (and skin and nails). They contain vitamins necessary for the proper functioning of the hair follicles (e.g. from groups B and A and E), minerals (e.g. silicon, thanks to which the cells of the hair follicles can function properly).regenerate), as well as herbal extracts and hair-strengthening amino acids. However, do not take them if you are already taking any preparations, so as not to overdose on vitamins. In such a situation, it is good to decide together with your doctor which preparation will be better for you.
