In the first weeks of life, the baby eats and sleeps first of all. Although babies do not need to be entertained yet, it is worth providing them with visual, auditory and tactile stimuli that will help in their development. What toys will be suitable for the youngest kids?
A newborn babycannot take anything in his hand, but he reacts to sounds and images, and likes it when you touch his skin. So choosetoysthat will provide him with auditory, visual and tactile stimuli.
Toys stimulating the sense of dryness
Hears high pitches more clearly after birthbaby . So let's talk to it a lot, turn on music or a toy with a music box. It's also good to have a few rattles that make different sounds. The baby will not shake them on their own for a few weeks - now this is a task for mum and dad. The richer the world of sounds, the better hearing develops. Research also confirms that it helps with speech learning and intellectual development.
Toys affecting the sense of sight
A newborn baby sees blurry images, best recognizes them when they are 30-40 cm away from his face. The first toys should have strong patterns and colors: yellow, red, green, blue or black and white. But let them not be motley, because the child does not yet distinguish many colors. Unfortunately, few toys meet these conditions. Therefore, if you want to stimulate the child's sense of sight, decorate the surroundings with expressive, geometric patterns, e.g. hang large circles, triangles and squares cut out of cardboard on the wall above the cot. A great idea is to place a plain sheet of paper with lines painted with a thick black felt-tip pen within the child's sight. You will see that the baby will be interested in this object.
ImportantThe packaging of the toy should include:
- name and address of the manufacturer or importer
- CE symbol - this is how the manufacturer assures us that the toy has been made in accordance with the safety requirements
- information for the age of the toy.
Toys stimulating the sense of touch
Contrary to sight, a newborn baby has a well-developed sense of touch. She perfectly feels the difference between something smooth and fluffy. Therefore, items with different textures will be useful, e.g. a blanket sewn withpieces of flannel, satin, corduroy, linen.
Remember the golden rule: don't overdo the amount of toys. Let the child get used to each of them and get to know them well. Let the colorful decoration made of geometric figures hang over the crib for 2 weeks. Then replace it with another one, e.g. balloons. Because stimuli are needed for a child's development, but they cannot bombard the delicate nervous system.
