Ponds are involved in every activity we perform. These natural "hinges" allow us to get out of bed, walk, bend down, pick up objects, play sports. In order for them to serve us all our lives, they must be treated well.
As long as the joints are working properly, we do not think about them at all. However, when they start to fail, every action causes pain, and with time independent functioning becomes much more difficult. And it's not just the elderly - joint diseases can attack at any age. Some of them cannot be avoided because they are, for example, genetically determined or related to a defective work of the immune system. But many illnesses are a consequence of an inappropriate lifestyle. That is why it is worth taking care of the condition of the joints in advance - it will allow you to avoid chronic pain and limitations of fitness.
First of all, you need to provide them with the right dose of not too strenuous exercise (preferably 3 or 4 times a week for 30 minutes). It is a real boon for the joints for several reasons. Systematic physical activity makes the ligaments more flexible and strengthens the muscles that stabilize the joints, which reduces the risk of injuries and thus damage to the joint. Physical activity is also of great importance in the proper metabolism of articular cartilage. And its resistance to overload depends on it.
It is also important to maintain a he althy body weight, because the more we weigh, the more we put a strain on our joints, which causes them to wear out faster. Overweight and obesity are often accompanied by metabolic disorders (e.g. gout, diabetes), which also accelerate the development of degenerative changes. Importantly, obesity is pro-inflammatory, and chronic inflammation in the body contributes to the destruction of articular cartilage. For this reason, foods that have a pro-inflammatory effect, including sweets, high-sugar drinks, red meat, fast food, fatty dairy products. As often as possible, it is worth eating products with anti-inflammatory properties: intensely colorful vegetables and fruits, which are also rich in vitamin C, needed for the production of collagen - the building block of articular cartilage; spices - ginger and turmeric; and flaxseed and fish (a source of omega-3 fatty acids, soothing inflammatory processes).
The joints should also be protected against frequent overloads (e.g. related to work, hobby, competitive sports). They favor the development of the diseasedegenerative. It can affect any joint, but most often it affects the knees, hips, hands and feet, as well as the spine. It is manifested by pain, joint stiffness (especially in the morning), crackling when moving. Over time, the shape of the joint changes and its mobility is limited. We advise on how to take care of specific joints to prolong their youth.
