A bundle branch block or bundle branch block is a permanent or temporary blockage of impulse conduction in one or more His bundle branches.
With bundle branch block, the conduction between the atrioventricular node and the right and left ventricular muscles is slowed down or absent, which slows down the work of this organ.Heart blockmay be a diseasecongenital , it may also result from damage to the heart or such diseases as:
- degenerative changes in the conducting system
- heart tumors
- myocardial ischemia
- Zawał
- fibrosis of the conducting system
- Lyme disease
- hypothyroidism
Types of His bundle branch blocks
- Left bundle branch block - arises as a result of impulse conduction interruption in the left branch. The excitation goes through the right ventricle into the left ventricle, which contributes to a delay in left ventricular depolarization. The disorder indicates serious damage to the heart muscle.
- Incomplete left His bundle branch block - arises as a result of a slower conduction of impulses in the left bundle branch.
- Right bundle branch block - is caused by blocking the conduction of impulses in the right bundle branch. The excitation spreads through the left branch to the left ventricle, through the interventricular septum to the right ventricle.
- Incomplete right His bundle branch block - arises as a result of a slower conduction of impulses in the right bundle branch.
His bundle branch block - diagnosis
Permanent heart blocks are identified by a resting ECG, while periodic blocks can be detected by a 24-hour ECG.
His bundle branch block - treatment
Treatment of this disease should begin with the treatment of the underlying disease, such as a heart attack or Lyme disease. In the case of a two-beam block, due to the risk of complete blockage of conduction, the patient is implanted with a pacemaker.
