However, on Polish tables you can also find potato croquettes, croquettes with cheese, and even croquettes with spinach. Traditional croquettes consist of pancake dough with stuffing wrapped in it. They are rolled in egg, breadcrumbs and fried in fat until golden brown. They are usually served with red borscht.

In Poland, the most common stuffing for croquettes is:

  • sauerkraut with mushrooms or mushrooms
  • minced meat (pork, veal, chicken, turkey) with vegetables
  • minced meat with sauerkraut, mushrooms with cheese and onion

However, croquettes are a dish whose preparation method differs from country to country. In India potatoes are stuffed with croquettes and served with stews.

In Indonesia, to prepare croquettes instead of pancake dough, mashed potatoes are used, stuffed with chicken meat. Then the croquettes are breaded and fried.

Croquettes can also be prepared in a dietary version, using wholemeal flour or buckwheat instead of wheat, thanks to which the croquettes will be richer in minerals and fiber. Additionally, it is worth frying pancakes in a pan without the addition of fat, thanks to which they will be less caloric.

Diet croquettes are best prepared without breading and baked in the oven. Croquettes filled with sauerkraut and mushrooms, mushrooms, vegetables, poultry and veal will be less caloric.
