I am 23 years old, 167 cm tall, currently weighing less than 58 kg. My problem is that since I lost 2 kg and I weigh less than 58 kg (now I feel very well), my period has stopped. I didn't have any precise diet, just ate very little and not very he althy, and I had a lot of exercise at work, because I have physical work, still on my feet. I don't know what to do to bring my period back, but I'd like to stay on that weight.
If you supplied yourself with too little calories, it could cause loss of menstruation (the so-called secondary amenorrhea) - lack of menstruation for at least 3 consecutive months. The menstrual cycle is hormone-dependent and controlled by the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovary system. The dysfunction of this axis is responsible for the irregularity of the menstrual cycle in women. This is due to an inhibition of the pulsatile release of gonadoliberin, which stimulates the secretion of gonadotrophins. Gonadotrophins regulate the functioning of the reproductive system.
Arresting menstruation is the body's response to the reduction of energy supplied to it with food (diet low in fats and carbohydrates, deficiency in calories, calcium, B vitamins, iron, zinc). The deficit of energy results in its saving by reducing the expenditure on supporting certain functions of the body, such as thermoregulation, growth and reproduction. Factors that further aggravate the disproportion between energy resources and their expenditure are low body weight, stress and intense exercise.
You should eat 5-6 meals a day, using the principle of eating less and more often. It's good that meals are regular and eaten at 3-4 hour intervals. However, breakfast should be eaten by the Lady within an hour of getting up. It should be a source of complex carbohydrates and protein. Dinner, on the other hand, is a meal that should consist of wholesome proteins and vegetables. Preferably, you eat your last meal no later than two hours before going to bed. Please also be properly hydrated, drink at least 30-35 ml per kilogram of body weight.
