After the colonoscopy, erosions with an abundant fibrin coating and intensely hyperemic mucosa were found. Additionally, 2nd degree hemorrhoids were observed in the anal canal, all in the sigmoid and rectal sections. The doctor recommended a light diet and prescribed Pentase. Which diet is better for this type of inflammation in the gut: excluding dairy products or excluding the fiber that most irritates the gut lining?

There is no one diet that is right for everyone. If you have erosions, bloodshot mucosa and haemorrhoids, I would be wary of any products that may irritate the lumen of the intestine and rectum. Therefore, it is worth avoiding nuts, seeds, bread made of grains only.

The elimination of dairy products depends on specific tolerance. So if you do not observe increased peristalsis, flatulence or abdominal pain, I would stay with dairy products, but only fermented ones, i.e. natural yoghurt, kefir. You will need fiber sources to prevent constipation. Therefore, you need to remember about products such as: vegetables and fruit (if there are no contraindications, they should be eaten raw), wholemeal bread, e.g. rye, graham, spelled, thick groats, e.g. buckwheat, brown rice and quinoa, bran, flakes, e.g. oat, rye, wheat, dried fruit.

Fiber strongly binds water. Therefore, when regulating the rhythm of bowel movements, it is so important to drink at least 1.5 liters of fluid a day. This means that you should drink 7-8 glasses of water or other drinks a day.
