History of bachata dance
Bachata is a type of dance and music that originated in the sunny Dominican Republic. As is often the case, this dance was inspired by the music it comes from. Bachata was born in the poor parts of the Dominican Republic, the inhabitants of the island sang to its rhythms, often after their work was finished. The music was made on unusual and readily available instruments, which probably gave rise to its name bachata, as the word means "rubbish" in certain areas of the Dominican Republic; and some say that "bachata" primarily means fun. You can also find the statement that the name of this dance comes from the Italian word "ballata", which means the music that was once popular on the Apennine Peninsula.

Bachata dance description and basic steps
Bachata is a very sensual and erotic dance during which the partners dance close to each other, touching their bodies, creating almost one, moving whole. Bachata is divided into three basic styles: dominicana, modern and sensual.
- Dominicana- resembles Latin American dances (especially cha-cha) and is an original, first-created bachata style. It is characterized by a fast dance pace and quite complicated steps. The pace is accounted for on the 4th Stepthe basic one, called box step, is not very difficult, because it is danced by putting the feet to the side and putting them together. More precisely, to make a box step, you need to step to the side to the right (chasse) and bring your left leg to the right, then repeat this sequence again and put your left leg on the "four", touching the floor with your toes and making a hip movement to the left.
- Moderna- is a simplification of Dominican Republic. In this style of dance, the songs are much slower, romantic and sensual. Moderna is characterized by an easy dance technique, which makes it a popular choice for bachata lovers. Especially by couples who want to get even closer to each other through dance. The slower pace makes it much easier to perform effective turns and partner shifting. Moderna is usually recommended for people who start their adventure with this Caribbean dance. The basic step is to simplify the box step, known from the Dominican variety. It starts with three steps to the left with an addition (or tap) to "four" and ends with three steps to the right, also from a tap to "four".
- Sensual- this is the most sensual and sensual variety of bachata. It is characterized by full body movement and partners often appear as if they are one. This is because the sensual movement is mainly from the hips. Often one of the partner's legs lands between the partner's legs and vice versa to get as close to each other as possible and lead the step together. Eye contact is very important here, because it gives bachata eroticism. Sensual is danced to slow music, but it doesn't make the style any easier. It is technically very difficult and is often learned only in advanced bachata courses. Frequent steps in this variant of bachata are the so-called "wavelets", which are most often performed by the partner, as well as sensual movements of the hips and shaking the bottom. The partner's task is to guide the partner and expose her body.
