There is a place in the Austrian Alps where you will feel painfully taken care of. It is enough to surrender to the course of events. Or - you will feel like you are on the factory line that pushes you forward, to your skiing holiday. This place is Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis.
Quick and convenient
It starts immediately upon arrival. You leave your car in the parking lot: you will no longer need it until you leave. How will you get to the slopes? Of course by subway. The underground railway, the second after Vienna metro in Austria and the highest in Europe (the village of Serfaus is located at an altitude of nearly 1500 m above sea level) has three stops: next to a huge parking lot, in the center of the village and next to the starting station of the gondola lifts. The crowd is like in a real subway, because everyone goes skiing in the morning. Well, maybe apart from a thousand permanent residents of this town.
From the metro straight to the rental shop. You start with a computer station: you fill in the form (also in Polish!): Height, weight, ski skills. You do enter and take the receipt: that's the basis. You report to the shoe dispensing station with the receipt: they are actually already waiting. Now for the skis - the service technician adjusts the bindings in no time. You take the poles from the hangers by the wall by yourself, pay and you are ready. Oh: you still have to leave your usual shoes. At the cash register you got a number with which you go to the storage room. When you go down the slope, you will leave your equipment here until tomorrow. Why carry it to the hotel?
Family but separate
If you went on a skiing holiday to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis with children - your paths diverge here. You will board a gondola that will take you to the mountains, to a complex connecting three villages, with 180 kilometers of slopes, from blue to black (here is the steepest black slope in Europe - Pezid-Vertikal, with a slope of 60 degrees!), tangle of chairs and lifts. There are no queues to enter, because the crowd riding the metro in the morning dispersed imperceptibly along the spacious slopes.
Children can be put in a ski school. They will go to another hall in a separate gondola, where they will learn to ski, play in the snow, rest in warm rooms and eat meals prepared for them under the supervision of instructors and guardians. Pick them up at the end of the day… The Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski resort is inat the forefront of rankings most family-friendly in the snow.
Added attractions
Because skiing does not only mean skiing here. There is more to do: cross-country skiing in alpine pastures, sledging along a three-kilometer long route from the top gondola station to the edge of the village. You can hike on snowshoes, slide down furrows … You can also have strong impressions … You just have to dare.
In the part of the complex located above the village of Fiss (the three parts of the resort name are the names of three alpine villages), on Moseralm, there are two machines. One is a huge wing, clinging to a line drawn between the two ridges of the mountains. If you allow yourself to be attached to it, you will be pulled far away, and then you will fly over the ski hall at 80 km per hour. And if that is not enough, get on the Skyswing. This huge metal arm will lift you high up and then with tremendous acceleration it will drop suddenly at a speed of 65 km per hour. The overload at the lowest point of the swing is reportedly reaching 4G! Before you decide to do such entertainment, I advise you to read the multilingual warnings at the checkout.
