P90X and Insanity are two home training programs that break records in popularity. Despite the different rules, both require iron motivation, consistency and total dedication. Find out what the difference between P90X and Insanity is, and which training program will help you lose weight more effectively and which will strengthen and shape your body better.

What to choose -P90X or Insanity ? Every day, the Internet is flooded with stories of people who have completed one of these popular workouts and, after several months of hard work, can boast a slim, sculpted body. Undoubtedly, both exercise programs are very effective, but they differ, for example, in training rules, duration, type of dominant effort (cardio or strength) and slightly different assumptions. While the P90X is more focused on increasing strength and overall fitness, the Insanity is the best weapon against the extra pounds.

See which training will be better for you and which will help you achieve your dream goal.

P90X and Insanity - differences

The differences between P90X and Insanity can be boiled down to several points:

  • for whom they were created and what are their goals;
  • what kind of exercise is dominant in them (cardio, strength, stretching);
  • how long do they last;
  • what additional devices do they require;
  • what effects can be achieved thanks to them.

The various aspects of each training session are discussed below.

P90X - characteristic

P90X is a program that is supposed to be a complete, 90-day training session replacing the gym. It was created for people who want to slim their figure and get a visible muscle image. You don't need to be fit to start the P90X program - the training is suitable for everyone, regardless of their skill level. A big advantage of the P90X program is the possibility to choose three difficulty levels:

  • Classic - a basic program for men and women with comprehensive body development, suitable for beginners;
  • Lean - dedicated to women, focused more on cardio than strength, which gives better results in weight loss;
  • Doubles - intended for people who have completed the Classic or Lean program. It is the most intense and gives the best results in fat burningand building muscle. Not recommended for beginners.

In addition to the usual cardio and strength exercises, the P90X includes yoga, plyometric and stretching exercises. For some people, the disadvantage of training is its duration - 60 to 90 minutes a day, 6 days a week. The necessity to use additional devices may also be a difficulty. In order to be able to train, you need to have at least a chin-up bar, dumbbells and a yoga mat.

Insanity - characteristic

In fact, Insanity was created as a training program for runners to help them increase the speed and efficiency of their movements. It is based on cardio exercises that improve efficiency and speed up metabolism. While Insanity also contains some strength elements (e.g. push-ups), this training will not help you sculpt your body as much as the P90X. Thanks to the use of intervals, it will be much more effective in burning fat. Insanity is also better for people who have less time to exercise - one workout lasts a maximum of 60 minutes, and the entire program is 63 days. An additional advantage is the lack of any equipment needed for exercise.

Note, however, that Insanity is not suitable for complete beginners. Before starting the training, you need to perform a special Fit Test to make sure that the exercises are not too difficult for us. If we do not manage to make it to the end of the test, you should work on your fitness for at least 2-3 weeks with other exercises.

An alternative training for beginners can be the Focus T25. This one, too, like Insanity, was created by Shaun T, but is based on different assumptions. His motto is:it's about time("time matters"). One training session lasts only 25 minutes and the whole plan is 10 weeks. Even people who have not practiced any physical activity before can join the Focus T25. The program gives excellent results in weight loss - in just over 2 months you can lose even 17 kg.
