I have stones in both my kidneys, urinary tract and bladder. I have catheters in place, but I do not know for what purpose, what they are for and how long I will have to have them. I've also heard the term "fistula" which I don't understand either. What is the prognosis for a kidney that is damaged in 20 percent? with frequent cystitis?
Catheters prevent you from blocking the outflow of urine from your kidneys, and can be helpful during treatment. I am not able to comment on possible treatment, I do not have precise information about stones. When it comes to the behavior of the kidney after treatment and its function, it depends on how much you manage to get rid of the stones and maintain it. At your age, it is worth taking care of your kidneys, which will serve you for many years to come.
