How many Poles talk to their partner about their relationship? How many people communicate their sexual expectations to their halves? What was the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the relationships of Polish women and Poles? Among other things, we can find answers to these questions in research conducted by a well-known sexologist, family counselor and educator prof. Zbigniew Izdebski.
Prof. Zbigniew Izdebski is the head of the Department of Biomedical Foundations of Development and Sexology at the University of Warsaw and the Department of Humanization, Medicine and Sexology at the University of Zielona Góra. For years, the expert has been researching the subject of sexual behavior of Poles. This time he conducted research on Poles' relationships, he alth and sex life during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 5,500 people participated in the analyzes. The first round of the study took place in June 2022, and the second one a year later, i.e. in June 2022.
COVID-19 pandemic and compounds
Research conducted by prof. Izdebski confirm that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the relations of Poles in relationships, but also on their sexual behavior.
- Research from 2022 very clearly showed that the pandemic particularly affected young people. This is a group that is generally developmentally oriented towards social contacts and the fact of limiting activity during the lockdown period or later - by withdrawing full-time education in favor of online learning - these were significant limitations that influenced whether students would meet and meet and get to know better. Also, the "club" life, which students like very much, has been frozen. The oldest group of respondents coped with loneliness much better than the youngest group - said prof. Izdebski.
According to the expert, the pandemic had the greatest impact on the relations in the youngest group of respondents, i.e. 18-29 years of age. 65 percent admit to having sex on a regular basis. young people, 16 percent declares that they have sex once a month, and 6 percent. indicated that the last time they had sex 2-3 months ago.

Do Poles speak openly about their needs?
Research shows that less than half of Poles communicate their needs in a relationship - 44 percent. Women are more open and bold in having honest conversations on this aspect. Only 36 percent talk openly about their sexual fantasies. women and 32 percent men.
