Hello. I am the mother of a 5-year-old boy who was diagnosed with right eye amblyopia (+5.75) and left eye hyperopia (+1.75). He has been wearing glasses for 4 months OP +3.0 OL + 0.5. I am devastated because the diagnosing doctor informed us that with such a vision defect, there is virtually no chance to improve vision. We only recommend that the left eye be sealed for 5 hours a day. Are there any other treatments? Does my child really have no chance of improving his eyesight?

Amblyopia is the abnormal / incomplete development of the optic nerve. In children, the "better" eye is covered so that the weaker one works more intensively. As a result of this procedure, in many cases the optic nerve "regenerates" and improves vision. You just need to strictly adhere to the better eye cover time.
