My little son squints once in one eye and once in the other. Are there any non-invasive treatments? When is surgery required? Can it stay with him for life?
It is important to diagnose strabismus in the right moment, i.e. it is assumed that until the age of 6 months a child has the right to the so-called a physiological strabismus that passes by itself. If, on the other hand, the situation is still not regulated, it is necessary to look for the cause of strabismus (it may be, for example, a visual impairment, it may be some other change in the head area - the reasons may be many and very different). Such a test can be performed by an ophthalmologist who specializes in the treatment of strabismus. And start treatment (covering the better eye, exercising or finally surgery). All this is aimed at the best possible training of binocular vision. Please remember that strabismus is not only a cosmetic defect, but - above all - a visual impairment.
