Using a laparoscope, three pairs of electrodes are implanted into the walls of the patient's stomach, which are connected to an electrical pulse generator located - similar to a pacemaker - under the skin. Under its influence, the number and strength of stomach contractions increases, so it empties food faster. The role of the device does not end there - the electrical impulse reaches the brain via the vagus nerve. This is where a signal is generated that informs the whole body: I have already eaten, I will not eat any more.

It does not worsen, so it does not damage the circulatory system, nervous system, kidneys and eyes, there are no jumps in blood glucose levels and - most importantly - it is not necessary to take insulin. Three-year observations of patients treated with the use of a generator suggest that it is a very effective and promising therapeutic method.
