When it turns out that the body reacts positively to gruel, you can include rusks in your diet. In the Netherlands, it is practiced to serve rusks sprinkled with cinnamon because it has an antiseptic effect. We always remember to drink a lot. It's a good idea to include more vegetable stock at this point.

Intestinal flu. New foods in the diet

After 2-3 days after the symptoms have ceased, you can start eating light cooked meals: soft-boiled egg, cooked meat (preferably turkey or veal, there may also be chickens, but without skin). Meat is best prepared by steaming, it is tastier than when boiled in water. It's also worth trying boiled potatoes.

Easily digestible diet after intestinal flu

In the following days, we slowly return to our normal diet, but we turn on individual products gradually. We enrich the diet with boiled vegetables, e.g. carrot and beetroot puree. We can reach for baked fruit, e.g. an apple. We turn on the white cheese, yoghurt, and chicken or poultry and beef broths.It is worth starting to eat groats, e.g. barley, millet, then buckwheat and bread. For a longer period, up to 3 weeks after the intestinal flu, in the diet, we should avoid products that are difficult to digest, flatulence and those that can irritate the intestinal mucosa: fried and smoked meat and fish, all kinds of canned food (even peas or canned corn), pickles (let's stop before eating pickled mushrooms, gherkins and pickles, as well as pickled peppers or onions or pears and plums in vinegar). You should also avoid legumes (beans, peas, broad beans) and cruciferous vegetables (white and red cabbage, Chinese cabbage and Brussels sprouts as well as cauliflower, broccoli and kohlrabi) during this time.
