I am 48 years old, have had a stuttering problem for as long as I can remember, recently I had several visits to a speech therapist. The speech therapist referred me to the psychologist she recommended. I went through a few hours of therapy with your psychologist and a few group meetings in which I participated, this lady I think she really tried to help me. But the speaking problem remained, and in fact it seems to be worse. Is there any hope for me to be speaking fairly correctly?

I think there is hope, or rather there is certainty, that it is possible to get out of stuttering. Unfortunately, this requires long work, often 2-3 years of therapy. A few group meetings with a psychologist is definitely not enough, you need individual therapy. It is there to deal with the causes of your stuttering and its consequences in your life. At the same time, it is good to go to speech therapy classes to improve your breathing and speaking fluency. Stuttering is a complicated disorder, and you can get out of it, but you have to put a lot of effort into it.
