I have been speechless for several months. I don't know the reason. My dad also started to lose his speech in the 1980s, and he was 60 at the time. In 1984, he lost his speech, as did not swallowing food. He died 3 years later, the cause was not found then. I have the same symptoms.
You do not describe what the loss of speech is, whether it is forgetting words or problems with pronouncing them. If your dad had such a problem, maybe it is neurological. I would recommend consulting a neurologist and performing specific tests, such as magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography of the head. Only then will it be possible to find out how to help you.
