Air purifying plants are not a marketing figment - their list was created by NASA in 1989, and it was published in the report "Interior Landscape Plants for Indoor Air Pollution Abatement".

And although experts emphasize that they should not be the only home protection against smog, it is worth having at least a few such plants among home flowers. They are referred to as live filters - they absorb and neutralize substances that are dangerous to humans, including heavy metal particles, or in smog, volatile organic compounds such as formaldehyde, xylene, benzene, toluene and ammonia. They give us oxygen in the process of photosynthesis.
