Cocktails are prepared on the basis of milk and its derivatives - yoghurt, kefir, buttermilk, cream. They can replace a meal, e.g. breakfast or dinner. In order for milk shakes to contain as many substances valuable as possible for he alth, you need to know what to combine with what and how.
Milk cocktails , i.e. combiningyoghurt ,kefiror creamwith fruits and vegetablesis a very wise habit. Dairy products contain a lot of calcium, which neutralizes the effects of oxalates found in many plants. These substances impair the absorption of many minerals.
Cocktail based on milk or cream?
Which dairy product we use hardly changes the taste of the cocktail. However, in some cases our choice can be very important. Fresh milk should avoid diabetes, because it contains lactose - a complex sugar that significantly raises blood glucose levels. People with lactose intolerance cannot drink it.
For both, fermented milk (kefir and buttermilk) will be better, because lactose in it has been broken down by natural bacteria from the Lactobacillus group. Milk in any form can not be added to cocktails by people allergic to the protein contained in it. In their case, drinks made of fruit, vegetables and water will be better.
They should not, however, replace breakfast or dinner, even if it is very hot, because they are not a wholesome meal.
Cocktails are liquid meals, so easy to digest by the body, and very nutritious at the same time. Therefore, they are recommended especially for sick people and those in convalescence. The only contraindications are severe intestinal and liver diseases.
Fruit and vegetables for smoothies
Choose especially those foods that contain a lot of vitamin C, such as black currants, strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, red peppers. Since a lot of this vitamin is under the skin, do not peel vegetables and fruits - just wash them thoroughly.
Avoid adding cucumbers or radishes frequently as they contain paroxidase - an enzyme that oxidizes vitamin C found in other vegetables and fruits.
Blueberries, carrots, beets and green are valuable due to the presence of e.g. beta-carotene, B vitamins or folic acidside dishes: dill and parsley.
You must do it
Low calorie cocktails
For a low-calorie shake, use milk with 0.5 percent. fat, buttermilk 0.5-1 percent. or kefir up to 1.5 percent. Forget cream and don't use too much sugar - ripe fruit has plenty of it!
Use vegetables rather, as they are less sweet than fruit. Do not use juice in the shake, only puree. It contains a lot of fiber, which makes you feel full and speeds up the metabolism. You can add parsley as it has a diuretic effect and releases excess water accumulated in your body.
