Over the centuries, mankind has accumulated knowledge about this disease and tried to cure women suffering from breast cancer. With the passage of time, cancer diagnosis has developedbreast, knowledge was spreading about the possibilities of its optimal treatment. It is now known that there are many types of breast cancer that progress at different rates, have different prognosis, and respond to different treatment regimens.

Based on many years of research, experts - reaching the conclusion that breast cancer is not a homogeneous disease - after the tumor has been diagnosed, recommend that its section be subjected to histopathological examination to determine the type of neoplasm. Due to the status of the HER2, estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PgR) receptors (proteins found in the cell or on its surface): HER2, estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PgR) receptors are distinguished by its different types, eg HER2-positive, HER2-negative, hormone-dependent. HER2 positive breast cancer is characterized by an increased amount of the HER2 receptor protein on the surface of the tumor cells (as a result of HER2 overexpression or HER2 gene amplification). Studies have shown that HER2-positive tumors account for approximately 15-20% of breast cancer cases in women, with a more rapid course. At the same time, this type of cancer allows the use of modern targeted therapy. Hormone-dependent breast cancer is characterized by the presence of receptors for the sex hormones (estrogen or progesterone) and usually responds well to hormone therapy. A tumor that does not have any of these receptors on its surface is referred to as "triple negative" breast cancer.
