Is it true that snoring can mean thyroid problems? She had read that snoring could even mean a thyroid tumor. I am very worried because my mother suddenly started to snore terribly and there were cases of thyroid disease in my family - my grandmother's sister (my mother's mother) had hypothyroidism.
Snoring is not in itself a symptom of a tumor or goiter, it is also associated with hypothyroidism. It may be related to an enlarged thyroid gland by oppression. Other causes of snoring are much more common. If you are concerned about your mother, please do an ultrasound of the thyroid gland and TSH. If, on the other hand, the snoring symptom is very severe, diagnostics should be performed in this direction, much wider than the thyroid test itself.
