The ambulance fleet in Szczecin has grown by eight new ambulances, including one specialized for the transport of obese patients weighing over 300 kg. This is the second rescue vehicle of this type in Poland. The first, the so-called the bariatric ambulance runs in the emergency room in Krakow.
Provincial Ambulance Station in Szczecin purchased an ambulance to transport patients with extremely obese obesity, i.e. with a BMI (body mass index) over 60 (weight over 150 kg). The Szczecin bariatric ambulance can safely and comfortably transport a patient weighing over 300 kg.
The stretcher, which is part of the Szczecin bariatric ambulance equipment, has an even greater load capacity, up to 400 kg. The stretcher can be widened to adjust it to the patient's dimensions, and it can be automatically raised to the appropriate height and led into / out of the ambulance via a special ramp. The second important element of the car is the cardiology chair. It is also tailored to the needs of obese patients. It has a wider seat, greater load capacity, and thanks to the tracks mounted instead of wheels, it also moves up the stairs by itself.
The Szczecin ambulance for transporting patients with morbid obesity has been designed to provide as much space as possible for the patients themselves. It is also equipped with devices necessary to save life and maintain the functions of the body. incl. cardiac monitors, ECG defibrillators and medication pumps.
Every day bariatric ambulance serves all patients from Szczecin, regardless of their weight. The Szczecin ambulance for people with morbid obesity is the second specialist vehicle of this type in Poland. The first one was purchased in 2014. ambulance service from Krakow.
