Diapers, changing table, baby bathtub, anti-slip mat are just a few new elements of your home decor after your baby is born. With a newborn baby, a lot of things come home that you didn't even suspect existed. Which of them are really necessary and helpful in caring for a child?
The biggest expense is disposablediapers . For the youngest there are diapers with a cut for an unhealed navel (you can also make a hole with scissors). Diapers from reputable companies reduce the risk of allergies and diaper dermatitis. You can experiment with the cheaper ones in 2-3 months. If you prefer cotton cloth diapers, also buy special oilcloths with side ties, worn over the diaper so thatbabydoes not get the clothes wet. Wait a few weeks with air-tight oilcloth panties, because they allow less air to enter the skin than a tied oilcloth. Tetras diapers will also be useful when placed on achanging pad , a bouncer or on a scale at the doctor's office, for wiping a toddler's mouth or protecting his own clothes from milk poured out during bouncing.
You will need to change more butt cream or powder. Do not combine it with the olive because it creates a crust that is difficult to remove. Wet wipes are very practical and easy to use. Even if you prefer soapy water, a pack of wipes for trips and other special occasions will still come in handy. It's best to place all the accessories near the changing table so that they are at hand.
Baby changing table
In the competition for the most practical invention for babies, one of the first places after disposable diapers would be a changing table. Sometimes parents think that it is not worth buying it, because you can change your baby's nappy on the bed, and your baby will quickly grow out of the changing table. However, if you count all the minutes that mom spends bending over the baby, it turns out that she is in this uncomfortable position for a total of many hours! Her spine will start to protest quickly. In addition, you usually need to put the child on an oilcloth to protect the mattress from getting wet, and then a diaper or a blanket. The changing table avoids this constant folding and unfolding of the "operating table".
The changing table may have the form of a simple board, finished with a soft oilcloth lining and placedon the edges of the crib. Some have raised edges which makes them safer. The changing table can be equipped with a high stand or be part of a practical chest of drawers. Remember never to leave your child alone on it! In a dozen or so months, the toddler will certainly grow out of diapers. Then it will be time for a potty or a plastic cover for the toilet bowl.
In the first days after birth, many babies sneeze. Don't worry - it's not a runny nose. Their noses are full of remnants of the fluid. Since the baby will not be able to blow his nose for a long time, you need to help him with a special pear. This device should be of the right size so as not to damage the delicate nose and at the same time fulfill its purpose.
Baby bathtub and baby bath accessories
A bath is the main source of stress for new parents, so it is worth making this very difficult task easier at first. There are two basic models of bathtubs: the smaller one (83 cm long) lasts for several months, and the larger one (100 cm) can be used by a child for two or three years. It is worth buying a bathtub with a stand - it fits even in a very small bathroom, because it can be placed e.g. over a toilet bowl.
A proposal worth considering are furniture consisting of a changing table, a bathtub and shelves or drawers for baby care accessories. Sometimes they are built into a cabinet that does not reveal its bathing purpose when it is lowered. The bathtub can be removable or have a drain with a hose.
For the first baths, an insert is useful, which is placed in the bathtub and the baby is placed on it. You can choose from profiled plastic supports (they can also be used to bathe a newborn in an "adult" bathtub), sponge (the least hygienic) and made of material stretched on a frame. An older baby can be provided with a special bathing chair with suction cups. The body should be washed with a cotton glove. Remember that the washer is a breeding ground for bacteria, so you need to dry it after bathing and wash it often. Don't forget the water thermometer and the soap or bath tubs. If the child is afraid of washing his head, buy him a special brim or roof - then the water will not run over his mouth. A bath toy will also be useful - especially if the little one does not like bathing. When the child grows up and starts to stand on its feet, it is worth buying a non-slip mat for the bathtub.
After bathing, wrap the baby with a towel and gently dry the skin, without wiping it. You will need two towels - preferably terry cloth, with the hood in one corner. Flannel diapers are also great for this role. On a cold day, warm a towel on the radiator beforehand. Dry the head by putting on a cotton onea hat.
The heat must be
Undressed baby freezes quickly, so make sure (especially in autumn and winter) that you are able to heat the bath room to about 24˚C. A small, portable electric heater will come in handy. It is also worth turning on the heater when changing or changing your toddler, e.g. when the room was aired a moment ago. Be sure to take precautions when using these devices!
Baby care accessories
After bathing, it's time to take care of your beauty. Before the umbilical cord stump falls off, it must be washed daily with a sterile cotton swab or ear-cleansing stick soaked in 70% spirit. Cotton swabs will also be needed to rinse eyes with saline, which often fester right after delivery. The mouth is washed with boiled water. So you will need cotton wool (preferably cotton) and a small plastic bowl, used only for this purpose. Brush the hair with a soft-bristled brush. It is also worth buying for a child who has no traces of hair yet - together with the olive it will create a team to fight cradle cap, so common at this age. Cut the nails with special scissors with rounded edges or clippers.
As soon as the first teeth appear (some children are cut off even in the third month!), It is worth introducing your toddler to washing them. You can buy a silicone teether brush with insets instead of bristles, which the adult puts on his finger and massages the child's teeth and gums.
Accessories for children should be certified by the National Institute of Hygiene. It is good that they also have a positive opinion of the Mother and Child Institute or the Children's He alth Center. Then we can be sure that they are safe and do not contain toxic or allergenic substances.
