Ultrasound examination at the 28th-32nd week of pregnancy is the third standard examination performed in all pregnant women, this time in the third trimester of pregnancy. What is the purpose of this study? Which parameters are assessed by the doctor and how to interpret the results?
Purposeultrasound examination performed in 28-32. week of pregnancyis primarily an assessment of the development of the fetus and its position. In the case of the head position, the position is also assessed (I - the back of the fetus on the left side, II - the back of the fetus on the right side). The confirmation of the pelvic position in the case of the first pregnancy may be an indication for delivery by caesarean section. However, further decisions depend on other factors, including: gestational age, contractile activity of the uterine muscle or its absence, or rupture of the fetal bladder.
What is rated?
This survey evaluates the same as the survey conducted in 18-22. week, so:
- anatomy of the fetus
- position of the placenta in relation to the cervix
- amount of amniotic fluid
- the condition of the cervix.
Additionally, the doctor observes the position of the baby, i.e. what position it has assumed in the uterus - this is important due to the type of delivery (of course, the position may still change).
