On the website patient.gov.pl - on the website of the Ministry of He alth and the National He alth Fund - a calculator is available that will allow unvaccinated and convalescent people to check how severe the course of COVID-19 will be in their case. The calculator was provided by the e-He alth Center.

A simple tool was developed by scientists from the Medical University of Bialystok. The calculator was developed on the basis of a clinical evaluation of 1,133 COVID-19 patients from several clinical centers in Poland. The participants took part in a study conducted by the Medical University of Bialystok (research leader), Imagene.me SA (technological partner) and the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in Warsaw. The study was financed by the Medical Research Agency.

In order to assess the severity of COVID-19, age, sex, body weight and height are analyzed. As emphasized by the Ministry of He alth in a statement on the website patient.gov.pl: "the risk of severe COVID-19 increases with age and body weight, is higher in men and may be higher in the event of deterioration of he alth due to other comorbidities".

Therefore, the result of the analysis is not 100% certain and does not replace a medical consultation. It also does not constitute a "basis for making decisions".

As MZ reminds, vaccinations are of key importance to protect against a severe course of infection, because they "reduce the risk of a severe COVID-19 disease".

"Remember - vaccination against COVID-19 significantly reduces the risk of severe COVID-19 at all ages," the release said.

It is also important to follow the rules of DDM, i.e. distance, disinfection and wearing masks.
