My mom has pancreatic cancer with lung metastases. After comprehensive examinations, doctors do not take any steps to treat mum! The tumor is so large that it blocked the bile ducts, and at the same time high bilirubin 15.40 !!! Doctors do not attempt to open the roads surgically, fearing a haemorrhage. The rest of the results, as well as the morphology, are not bad with such a disease. The neoplastic disease has stopped progressing, and for three months the doctors, with frequent examinations and checks, have not found any metastases. Are there any other methods of lowering bilirubin?
High bilirubin is indicative of mechanical jaundice that developed as a result of the compression of the neoplastic tissue on the bile outflow tract. The treatment is therefore a possible so-called decompression, i.e. facilitating the outflow of bile through surgical intervention. Sometimes the extent or location of the lesions may be a barrier to such treatment, and the patient's general condition may also be an obstacle - this is probably the case here. You can ask if some form of chemotherapy could be involved - which reduces the size of the neoplastic tumors, but in this case also some rules of procedure must be followed based on the test results.
