Hello, I am treating Hodgkin's disease. I am given steroids while receiving chemotherapy, and from November to today I gained about 8-9 kg. I wanted to know if there are any ways to avoid gaining so much? For some time now I feel that it has an impact on my well-being and self-esteem … What should I eat and what should I avoid? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hello, unfortunately cancer treatment is often associated with weight gain. It is worth ensuring that the daily diet is well-balanced in terms of calories, proteins, etc. It is also worth responding with various dietary interventions to specific needs, e.g. increased appetite should be associated with lowering the energy density of the food, that is, to put it simply - in the case of wolf hunger, we introduce diets low-calorie products, e.g. light vegetable soups, vegetable casseroles, baked vegetables, leaner dairy products, etc. It is also worth taking care of the regularity of meals and not allowing hunger to grow - 5-6 meals set at intervals of 3-4 hours will certainly facilitate maintenance diets. I also encourage you to check if the feeling of hunger is not a thirst. Maybe it would be enough to drink water, warm warming tea or even grain coffee with a little milk / plant milk. Best regards
