Good morning! I am a person with a heart defect after surgery. I spend most of my time sitting (about 12 hours a day). I would like to start some exercises that will not overload my body too much. Stretching and weight-bearing exercises are forbidden by my doctor. This lifestyle is already taking its toll on me - aching spine, fatigue. Therefore my question: what form of exercise would be best for me, apart from swimming (I can't swim). Should I practice alone or choose some organized form of movement? Thank you very much for your answer. Kind regards. Marta

For people with heart defects or after surgery, any form of exercise should be consulted with a doctor. Among the organized forms of exercise I can recommend you are qi-gong or tai chi. They have a positive effect on the energy flow in the body, gently strengthen the muscles and affect the ability to maintain balance and coordination of movements. You can go for walks on your own and perform selected exercises to strengthen your abdominal and back muscles, suggested by a physiotherapist or physiotherapist. But I repeat once again: each of these forms of exercise should be approved by a doctor.

Remember that our expert's answer is informative and will not replace a visit to the doctor.
