Higher RPM, lower temperature, less movement, complete freedom and a completely different aesthetic experience. Running at night has many advantages. Before we set off on the route, make sure you are comfortable and safe.

You can easily find night runs in the running calendar. The presence of such events as the Night Run in Krakow, the Copernicus Night Dine in Toruń or the PKO Wrocław Night Half Marathon proves the growing popularity of running after dark. More and more people give up day training in spring and summer. Why? There are several reasons for this, even supported by scientific research.

A few arguments for

First of all, some runners find that night training helps to de-stress after a hard day and ensures a good, he althy sleep. Secondly, research by one of the American research centers shows that the body during evening physical activity goes into much higher revolutions than in the morning. The muscles and lungs then work more efficiently. Third, many runners appreciate the more favorable conditions: there is no need to slalom between passers-by and the sun does not take its toll… Fourth, running at night reduces the risk of muscle injuries. The muscles are initially warmed up after the whole day. And finally - it's all about time. Rushing in the morning, work, running errands … Some people have a problem with finding a moment for training during the day. For these several reasons, many runners set off under the cover of night and in the light of a cold moon.

Safety and comfort

It should be remembered, however, that without proper preparation for running in the Egyptian darkness, you will not move. Of course, you can choose well-lit and familiar routes in the city. Sometimes, however, it is worth straying from the beaten paths and stepping out of the glow of street lamps to diversify your training. A properly prepared runner is a safe runner.

What should I remember? First of all, the runner must be visible to other road users. It is therefore necessary to wear reflective bands on the arms and legs or buy a sports outfit with reflective elements. Of course, it is colder at night than during the day, so you can think about an extra layer of clothing. A headlamp will also come in handy for running around the city, and certainly for running outside of illuminated routes. - Portablehigh-quality lighting, designed for runners, enables training regardless of the time and weather conditions - says Tomasz Kłak from Mactronic, a manufacturer of portable lighting. - It is worth choosing a flashlight with red rear LEDs that signal the presence of a runner to other road users - he emphasizes.

The headlamp on the one hand is to be a guarantee of safety, on the other hand it must increase the comfort of running at night. What features and parameters should be considered when choosing a headlamp? - The flashlight should be light and shock-resistant - says Tomasz Kłak. - It should be on for a few hours so that you can even run a marathon back and forth. The running headlamp must be undetectable on the head and always throw the light in the desired direction.
