I had an extended urethra (by several centimeters) and a narrowing appeared after the procedure. I dilate it with an overnight catheter, but unfortunately to no avail (besides, the catheter causes inflammation of the urinary tract). What are the effective methods of treating this stricture? What tests should I do to accurately determine the location and degree of this narrowing? Is every urologist able to deal with this or should I find one who specializes in this type of problem?

Urethral strictures are a difficult issue to treat, especially in patients who have previously undergone reconstructive surgery. Accurate information about the previous reconstruction and the time of its execution is very important. Mechanical expansion may unfortunately be insufficient. Assessment of the location and length of the stricture is most often performed based on urethrography, i.e. an X-ray with a contrast agent in the coil. On the basis of such a study, it is only possible to propose a further procedure. Treatment of this type of disease is most often carried out in academic centers.
