I am 21 years old and have had atopic dermatitis since I was born. Nothing helps me. Elocon cream damages the skin in the long run, and the redness and itching persist. I use Balneum, Oilatum and AA cosmetics for my bath. Are there other ways to relieve the symptoms of the disease?
Atopic dermatitis is a lifelong disease. However, proper treatment and skin care can make the symptoms of the disease invisible. The most important thing is to eliminate irritants, including allergens, and to lubricate the skin with preparations intended for people with AD, such as cholesterol ointment, Diprobaza, Lipicar, Exomega, etc. Protopic and Elidel are new spreads in this disease. Oral therapy is also used periodically, min. antihistamines, cyclosporin A or PUVA. In the case of atopic dermatitis, its dryness should also be eliminated - it requires special care. It is worth using intensively moisturizing and oiling preparations every day. Pharmacies offer a wide range of products (washing preparations and creams) containing emollients based on paraffin, petroleum jelly, hypoallergenic lanolin, vegetable oils, borage, wheat and avocado. The second group of preparations are water-absorbing humectants (propylene glycol, glycerin, ceramides, urea, lactic acid).
