Jurek Owsiak, founder of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, shares with us his recipe for youth. It is constant movement, avoiding regimens and stress, a he althy kitchen full of vegetables and fruits, and a bit of cognac every now and then.

- How do I stay young? - wondersJurek Owsiak . - I try to be constantly on the move. I spend a lot of time training young people for Przystanek Woodstock, which requires me to be very active. In addition, I walk, walk and cycle a lot - and in winter I switch to a stationary bike. I also have a treadmill at home that our whole family uses. These gear keep me in shape when the weather is not the best.

Jurek Owsiak: How else am I cheating on time?

I avoid patterns. And I hate planning. Every morning I get up and go to work, but I try to make my days different. I want to feel that I am the master of my time. I don't have a watch, but the world around me is so arranged that I don't even need it. And without it, I know how much more I have to do.

I avoidstress . As? I try not to be tormented by bad news. I am a man who can turn off the TV set if what is happening around begins to exceed the sound barrier. I read a lot - in the evenings in the bathtub. I like to lie in warm water for a long time - it is a fantastic relaxation for me.

What distresses Jurek Owsiak?

People. I meet them often, I am very open to them. When there are nervous situations, I try to explain them immediately. When someone wants to trigger some unnecessary discussion, I cut it off immediately. But I don't bear a grudge for long. I think a good mental attitude helps us stay he althy. So you have to like your weaknesses, instead of constantly looking for a hole in the whole. Reality brings us down so often, why should we still help it? The stress is the worst, it kills us. We try to fight it, but we often fall from one channel to the other. And it's best to throw yourself into the interpersonal channel - this is the best recipe for energy.

As for the body … The kitchen we run in our house is not "full". My wife is a working person, but she cooks a lot, there is always something hot at home. We like any vegetables that can be boiled and mixed with a piece of chicken. We don't eat, howeverchops or fatty meat.

Jurek Owsiak: we don't follow the beaten track

We like all culinary novelties, we also get to know them thanks to our daughters. My older daughter converted to vegetarianism many years ago - we never disturbed her. Contrary! We have a lot of cookbooks, we read a lot about it. But we are not following the beaten track. Only at Christmas and Easter, typical Polish dishes land on the table. Generally, we strongly modify each recipe, we add as much as possible. There are always grapes, oranges, and mangoes in my kitchen. I drink very little tea, coffee only occasionally when I am tired. I don't smoke, I quit the habit a few years ago. But I love cognacs and sip it if I have the opportunity. I also like beer and eat it from time to time. Because I see no reason why I should deny myself all the pleasures. After all, you only live once!
