- Drinking cure (krenotherapy) - what is it?
Drinking cure (krenotherapy) with spa waters is one of the oldest spa treatment methods. Drinking healing waters is an inseparable element of a stay in Polish resorts. Walking around the spa with a vessel with a characteristic spout from which you can drink water is conducive to relaxation, social contacts and, above all, he alth.
Drinking treatment (krenotherapy) with spa watersis one of the oldest forms of spa treatment, which consists in drinking - according to the doctor's recommendations - healing mineral waters at a specific temperature for a specified period of time and in fixed amounts. Spa healing waters can be called mineral waters if they contain more than1 gminerals per liter of water.
Althoughdrinking healing watershas been used for generations, the belief in the effectiveness of this method is still based on the patient's subjective feelings, and not on scientific research.
Currently, drinking cures use water with different chemical content:
- sodium chloride(s alty, brine)
- bicarbonate
- sorry(containing natural carbon dioxide)
- hydrogen sulphide
It is the content of additional chemical compounds in the water that has a significant impact on the effect of the therapy. The treatment can be modified by mixing several spa waters. In addition to the content of chemical components, attention is also paid to the concentration of minerals, which usually does not exceed1.5%

Drinking cure (krenotherapy) - what is it?
Drinking waterserved in special cups, the so-calleddrinkers , or disposable cups with straws.
These waters are taken in certain amounts and time, as prescribed by your doctor. Spa water is usually drunk 3 times a day for 200 ml, before meals. In some cases (e.g. in the treatment of kidney stones), it can be used more often and in larger amounts.
- Wysowa-Zdrój: mineral waters Józef, Franciszek, Henryk, Wysowianka
- Drink mineral water instead of Oligocene water
The pace of drinking water and its temperature are also important. Water that is cooler than body temperature has been shown to stimulate bowel movements when drunk quickly. Drinking it very slowly or warming it to body temperature reduces this effect. On the other hand, water with a temperature higher than 36.6 stimulates the secretory functions of the liver and pancreas.
The drinking cure can be used not only in a spa, but also - at the doctor's recommendation - at home. Then, bottled medicinal waters are used, which can be purchased in pharmacies or specialized stores.
Crenotherapy can be the basis of therapy or its complement (e.g. it can be used together with therapeutic baths)
