Where are the ticks most likely to bite, and which places will it miss? Which parts of the body do mosquitoes usually choose? It turns out that - contrary to appearances - the places of their attack are not accidental at all. See where these insects bite us most often.
Mosquitoes and ticks, although so different from each other, have common preferences - they find attractive places on the body where the skin is relatively thin and well supplied with blood, slightly warm and moist.
Mosquitoes are also attracted by heat and carbon dioxide emitted by people, and also by certain chemicals that we emit. Dr. Clifford W. Bassett of Allergy and Astma Care in New York proved that they have a perfect sense of smell - so good that they can sense a person from a distance of 30 meters.
Ticks, on the other hand, sense heat - the smell of sweat mixed with the scent of heated skin is extremely attractive to them. So they attack warm and humid places more willingly.
These are the favorite mosquito and tick attack targets.
