Dietary supplements are a popular group of preparations, more and more often bought by Polish society. Effervescent multivitamin tablets contain a number of different vitamins and minerals necessary for the functioning of the body. Is it worth taking them then?

Dietary supplements are foodstuffs available in the form of capsules, tablets, sachets with powder, syrups or effervescent tablets. Their main task is to supplement the daily diet with appropriate nutrients. They are a source of vitamins such as A, D, E, K, B1, B2, B6 and B12 and others. They also provide minerals and electrolytes, incl. potassium, calcium, magnesium, iodine, zinc, manganese, iron and chromium. They can be useful in many ailments resulting from the deficiency of certain vitamins and minerals. The additional ingredients have a positive effect on memory and concentration.

What is a multivitamin?

It is a dietary supplement in the form of a soluble lozenge. After throwing it into water, it fizzs and dissolves. Usually it has a sweet fruity flavor that is inviting to drink. As a liquid, it is absorbed faster and easier than a tablet, which must first dissolve in the stomach.

Depending on what it is intended for, a multivitamin has a different composition. It usually contains a complex of vitamins and minerals, as well as additional substances such as caffeine, taurine and ginseng. The task of such a supplement is to supplement the deficiencies of various dietary components.

In addition, they are often taken to boost immunity, increase endurance, improve memory and concentration, and reduce fatigue and sleepiness. They can have a positive effect on bones, the functioning of the nervous system, and improve the condition of the skin, hair and nails.

Popular multivitamins are generally available in many places, such as pharmacies, but also in grocery stores and gas stations. Dietary supplements are not medicines but foodstuffs.

Decisions on their admission to trading are made primarily by the Chief Sanitary Inspector. This is to ensure that a given dietary supplement does not contain dangerous, unexplored substances and will be safe to take.
