We have a 2-year-old son and during the balance sheet, the pediatrician, based on a few questions, stated that we need to see a child psychiatrist with suspected autism. We were, of course, moved by this news. Could the following behaviors indicate that the child has autism? Our son is 2 years old, he does not speak yet (only a woman, mum, dad - and it does not seem that he knows when to use it), he talks a lot in his own way. He's not peeing in the potty yet, but it's our fault. He is a very active person, runs a lot, gets on the wheelchair, gets out of it right away, recently invented fasteners that he tries to fasten by himself - if he fails, he moans a little to help him, and if no one reacts, he gets angry and screams (when the clasp is closed, it is calm). She loves to chase pigeons and eat from the ground. He is very happy to see the ducks. If he wants something, he takes us by the hand and leads us to a place, rather he wants one of us to be with him, even while having fun. From time to time, he also plays by himself, then he arranges cars in a row (we have read a lot about it and apparently children with an autism spectrum do it too). He also has other toys to play with. He is an impulsive person and when something does not go his way (and he really wants to), he screams and cries, he can lie down on the ground. He likes to walk constantly designated routes, sometimes he gets angry when we change something. When it comes to playing with his parents, he is very fond of tickling and playing hide and seek under the covers, often when we see that he is playing and one of us lies down on the bed, he immediately stops playing, goes for us or jumps on the bed. She can go from being forced to laugh and be happy very quickly. Unfortunately, he doesn't want to cuddle with us - we say he doesn't have time and he wants to go somewhere. However, when he is tired, he can sit on our lap, watching a fairy tale. I don't know what else I could add to bring the image of my son closer. The pediatrician made playing cars now, not like it used to be something cool, but a sign of autism. Of course I would like to hear the truth, whatever it is. We already have an appointment with a psychiatrist, but it's still 2 weeks of waiting - it will be hard to bear after what we heard.

A question to you - what would you like to hear from me? I cannot and do not have the right to diagnose a child on the basis ofa short description that the Lord gave. It is unprofessional. In order to be diagnosed with autism, the child must be observed for a while and I do not know your son.

I know that it is difficult for you, maybe you are afraid of diagnosis, but it is better to find out the truth sooner than to blame yourself for not helping the child. The diagnosis of autism is made by a psychiatrist, additionally, an opinion of a child psychologist and a neurologist may be needed. Please consult the specialists mentioned above. If you live in Gdańsk, I recommend PP Clinic No. 4, IWRD or SPOA - these facilities diagnose autism and Asperger's syndrome. The earlier the diagnosis is made, the earlier the therapy will be applied, after which you will see how your child functions positively. Please do not think negatively all the time, because your child will also be nervous. Please make a diagnosis, wait for the results and then intervene. I keep my fingers crossed.
