My son - now he is 12 years old, he has had strange anxiety states for 2 years - I think that's what I will call it. It started when my mother had another stroke in May two years ago (I had to take care of her) and my aunt, who lives with her now 86-year-old grandmother, helped me to look after the children (I still have a younger son). Grandma - I hope inadvertently - told my son about death, e.g. when my grandfather died, he would come and choke me, creak the door, etc. Since then, my son is very afraid of going to the other room, to the toilet, he is afraid to go to the room to sleep, and at night he wakes up and comes to me - it is so inconvenient that I can count on one hand the nights that he slept entirely in his bed. Conversations and translations do not help. We live in a small town and I am afraid that if I ask for help from, for example, a school psychologist, they will "patch him". What can I do, how to talk to him?

Unfortunately, for the sake of the child, you need to consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible, and not a psychologist, because your son's anxiety states for quite a long time. There is no need to wait, but the child needs to be diagnosed as soon as possible and therapy should be started. I think you have to let go of what people say and concentrate on the child's welfare. Please answer the question: what is more important to me, his he alth, or what the neighbor will say?
