I am 19 years old, a virgin, I have a boyfriend and I would like to start sex. I have some concerns about this - I know that sex before marriage is a sin, but I would like to do it. I will add that I am a practicing Catholic. Should I do THIS against my faith? I would love to see what it is like when two people experience love fully, but I am afraid that for this reason I will be condemned by the church and priests. Are my concerns normal? Should she hold off sex until marriage?
There is a contradiction in you, because on the one hand you feel ready to start sexual intercourse, on the other hand, your religiosity does not allow it. I am not in a position to answer you whether you should wait until your wedding, because that is your individual moral judgment. From the point of view of science, there are no reasons why you should start intercourse. You are an adult, mature person. What else is your morality and the assessment of what is good and what is bad. Everyone individually judges what he thinks is good and what is bad. However, please remember that if you decide to have sex, you will also need to think about contraception, which may also be contrary to your beliefs. Perhaps it would be more helpful to talk to a priest you trust about this.
