I have a question about colposcopy, so my doctor referred me for this examination because he noticed something abnormal during an ordinary gynecological examination. The cytology result is group II, I was told that everything was fine, but colposcopy should be performed to determine the origin of these changes. The gynecologist suspected an erosion, I also used Albothyl and then Abiofem. I have two questions: is colposcopy also performed when there is no suspicion of cancer, or is the doctor suspecting something but does not want to scare me? Besides, with each examination, even when using the smallest speculum, I feel discomfort, so I am afraid of the pain during the examination. Is there any advice for this and is virgin colposcopy indicated? Thank you in advance and best regards.
Good morning! Colposcopy is an enlarged examination of the cervical disc and is performed in each case of suspicious changes, not only in the case of suspected cancer. The colposcopy itself does not hurt, but you may feel discomfort caused by placing a speculum in the vagina. Please remember that you should not have sexual intercourse, vaginal irrigation and insert vaginal pessaries a few days before the examination. Regards
