Tiramisu(cake) is an Italian dessert, which in the classic version consists of biscuits soaked in coffee and a mass prepared with mascarpone, eggs, sugar and cocoa.

Tiramisu from Italian literally means "cheer me up" or "lift me up". There are several theories explaining the origin of this popular dessert. Some sources say that tiramisu was first prepared by confectioner Roberto Linguanotto at the "Le Beccherie" restaurant in Treviso in the second half of the 20th century.

Other sources date the origins of tiramisu to the 17th century, when it was prepared in Siena in honor of Prince Cosimo III, and spread in Trevisto, from where it then ended up in the United States.

Historians point out that tiramisu-like desserts have been prepared in Italy for centuries. What is certain, however, is that the recipe for tiramisu did not appear in cookbooks before 1960.

Regular coffee consumption has been shown to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, coffee has a positive effect on cognitive functions and reduces the risk of depression.

These benefits are due to the amount of antioxidants and caffeine in coffee. And thanks to the presence of polyphenolic compounds in coffee, coffee has anti-cancer, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Coffee also helps in weight loss, speeds up metabolism, mainly increases fat burning. However, such properties are attributed to coffeeblack.

Unfortunately, the classic version of tiramisu contains a small amount of vitamins and minerals. Tiramisu mainly provides calcium and iron, but the daily requirement for these ingredients is only covered at the level of 8% and 16%, respectively. Tiramisu is rich in vitamin A and vitamin C.
